Con KarykisRole: Presiding Officer - Primary Corporation Interface, (Finance) Bio: I have been a proud Martin Towers resident for the last five years, and have been a member of the management committee for the past four years. In addition, I have also had the privilege of holding the position of Presiding Officer for the past two years. Together with Rob Creasey, I have represented Martin Towers as the primary corporation representative and was involved in overseeing the facade repair works on the building. This necessitated negotiations with the other corporation owners to ensure the repairs were carried out for longevity, rather than cheaper, short term fixes. Another key responsibility of my role as Presiding Officer was being present at weekly and fortnightly meetings with both the builders and other members of the Primary Corporation. Additionally, I have been involved in overseeing other maintenance projects for the Corporation. Professionally, I am a Chartered Accountant and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. My involvement in the building industry is extensive, which has seen me acting for clients and overseeing both new construction and extensive renovations via prior Board positions within the aged care industry, as well as my own projects. I see my role as one of ensuring that both towers are maintained to a high standard. It is important to me that the interests of both the North and South Tower residents are equally looked after, whether they be owner occupiers, tenants or investors. |

Elizabeth FarrantRole: Treasurer Bio: Martin Towers is my home and it’s important to me that it looks good, is functional, comfortable and safe. To this end I‘ve been involved in several projects, most notably the design and installation of the window frosting in NT lobby, benches in pool area and mailbox lobby, spa safety rail, gym air purifier, plants throughout the building, herb garden, hand sanitisers, notice boards etc. My volunteering has ranged from Meals on Wheels to Lavender Lady to ATO TaxHelp and, as a Martin Towers committee member, I have reliably attended meetings and contributed when appropriate. My mathematics degree led to career as a geophysical engineer in London and later I worked as an accountant here in Adelaide. I consider my ability to think logically and clearly to be an asset to the committee. |

Carolyn WastellRole: Member Bio: I have been an owner/ resident in Martin Towers since the buildings inception. I have been a volunteer serving on the committee for several years and have assisted in maintaining the facilities to a high standard. I am the South Tower representative and assist with issues that are particular to the South Tower, as well as all issues that are related to all owners and residents. My particular interests are safety, security, and enabling timely access for emergency services. I also have an interest in rubbish and recycling facilities. I initiated the current rubbish removal contract with the City Of Adelaide Council which gave us new hardware, a free service and modernised us by providing recycling facilities. This has resulted in ongoing environmental benefits and financial savings benefiting all owners. I have worked on projects that enable residents to have information about how the buildings and features function, and to enable easier access in emergency situations for the South Australian Ambulance Service and the Metropolitan Fire Service. I have gained much knowledge during my time on the committee on how the building and corporation functions and its features, and will continue to serve the best interests of all owners. I look forward to being able to continue to be part of the great committee team that assists with enhancing and maintaining the value of the investments of all owners. |
